Our fundraising event on January 20th, 2024 was a success! We aimed to raise $10,000, and we reached our goal thanks to the generosity of our community.

About the Event

On the 20th of January, Gather and Grow joined with The Farm at South Mountain to present its first Annual Brisket and Waffled Community Brunch Fundraiser. Catered by Artisan by Santa Barbara, the event took place surrounded by The Farm’s winter pecan trees in one of Phoenix’s hidden gems. Tickets were $120 and included a brunch buffet that served delectable foods such as Farm Fresh Scrambled Eggs, Classic Mac and Cheese, and of course, Briskets and Waffles. Friends, family, and locals came to mingle, eat, and support our organization and we are so greatly appreciative!

Food

Seen in the photograph on the left is a portion of the brunch buffet that was available to the attendees of the event. Our buffet menu was catered by Artisan by Santa Barbra Catering. Not included in the picture were the bakery baskets with assortments of pastries, tea and coffee, and fresh fruit. Guests were encouraged to help themselves to the food, and come back for seconds, or even thirds!

People

Many prominent community members, past employees, current interns, friends, and enthusiastic supporters attended the event. The event not only served as support for Gather and Grow, but to provide the space for the community to network, get to know each other, and enjoy a lovely day outdoors on the farm.

Sustainability

With our ongoing commitment to sustainability, our caterers ensured our requirements for environmentally friendly items and practices were met. One of Gather and Grow’s core beliefs is to use sustainable practices whenever we can; in planning for our event we made sure to stick to that commitment. Not only did our caterers source foods directly from local Arizona farmers, but they also provided certified 100% biodegradable and compostable plates and utensils, as well as 100% recycled fiber napkins.

Summary

Thanks to the amazing guests and event attendees, we were able to reach our goal of fundraising $10,000 for Gather and Grow. With this money, we are able to continue implementing our STEM gardening education program at MLK Jr. Elementary School, run operations, apply for grants, and continue serving our community. Our first-ever Brisket and Waffle Brunch Fundraiser was a success, and we hope to see you all at our second annual Brisket and Waffle Community Brunch Fundraiser!
